Redline Rumble 2004 Event Report We promised you it would be hot, and we didn't disappoint! This year's 'Rumble was a real scorcher, and it wasn't just the weather that was blazing- the action on the track and the ladies were pretty hot too!
The God of the Pod shootout was won by Dee Ireland in his CRD Toyota Supra. Not only did the car look special, it absolutely flew up the ¼ mile, helped by a very sticky track and big, low-pressure slicks. but this was no dragster: Dee 's Supra uses the original chassis, engine and running gear as a basis for this car, making it a true modified monster. The car knocks out about 1,000 horsepower, and on one pass managed an incredible sub-10 second pass! This is the first time a genuine modified production car has broken the 10-second barrier, so big cheers went up all over the site. Also on track, Terry Grant put in two full performances of his amazing rubber-burning stunt show, and Fireforce 2 made two full-throttle passes at over 250mph. Great stuff.
Some close racing went on in all classes, but the hot and sticky track took it's toll on some of the less-powerful cars, causing unexpected bogging-down for those less experienced drivers. For more tips on Run What Ya Brung, have a read of the factsheets on www.rwyb.com Off track, the Redline paddock was busy all day, with a selection of astounding show cars and a stage that hosted DJs, dancers, and at midday, the wet t-shirt competition! What a fine display of lady lumps that was! Congratulations to the winner, but none of the other competitors seemed to mind getting cooled off with a lovely dose of ice-cold water. It was the perfect antidote to the scorching weather.
Pole dancers upped the nork-factor even further in main bar, and just outside was the "Pick of the Pod" show car area for Santa Pod's favorite cars of the day. All in all, an excellent day, and we are all looking forward to next year's 'Rumble. Special Thanks to aveitlarge.com and others for pictures. |
