Redline Rumble 2005 Event Report

The Redline Rumble is now over for another year, but to anyone who went, it will have left a lasting impression. Once again the Rumble was blessed with perfect weather, and things just got hotter and hotter as the day went on.
Things kicked off bright and early with the arrival of the car clubs. Just about every type of car was represented in the superbly presented club stands, from one-make clubs through to cruise clubs and internet owners groups. Amongst the club stands were some amazing show cars, and every club did a good job of putting on a show.
Trade stands were also being set up bright and early, show cars started arriving for the Redline Top 50 show cars display, and God of the Pod cars were in the pits getting ready for a days racing.
The weather allowed the track to be prepared for racing very quickly, and the first of the Run What Ya Brung cars set off down the strip before most people would normally get out of bed on a Sunday. but this was no ordinary Sunday: There was far too much going on at the Rumble to risk missing any of it.
By 10 am the Redline Stage was pumping out the tunes, and the show cars were gleaming in the sun as visitors got their first look around the show. Over in the all-new drift track enclosure, the first of the drift demos was kicking off, and what a great sight it was to see these incredible cars getting so, so sideways. Drifting is becoming BIG in the UK, and it was a pleasure to be able to host a drifting show at Santa Pod for the first time. Look out for these cars at future events at Santa Pod, and also check out GT Battle (http://www.gtbattle.com/) at Rockingham in June.
The action continued on the dragstrip, with fast times being laid down by both the Run What Ya Brunger's and the God of the Pod cars.
The God of the Pod competition was run a little differently this year, with all cars expected to make qualifying runs before they were entered into an elimination ladder. 11 cars were competing for 8 elimination spaces, so it was do-or-die in the two qualifying sessions. After the second qualifying session, Leon Green topped the Qualifying table, with a very low-10 second run.
By lunch time, everyone was feeling hungry, and the sight of the delicious wet-t-shirt girls on the Redline stage was almost too much to bear. There was hardly enough room on the stage for all these gorgeous girls and the contents of their t-shirts too, but MC Brooklyn worked with the crowd to pick the top titties of the day. Well done Emma Cox, you're welcome back at Santa Pod any time! We look forward to seeing you in your Redline Magazine photoshoot soon!
There was also plenty more girly action going on away from the Redline stage too, with free pole dancing shows in Fueller's bar, and some simply great looking girls just wandering around and watching the racing.
Another tough competition to judge was Redline's "Best of Show" showcar. There were so many amazing cars in the Top 50, but Ben Coomber's orange Saxo was fresh on the scene, and perfect in every way, so Ben was chuffed to be presented with the trophy.
The God of the Pod competition continued throughout the afternoon, with competitors being eliminated throughout the day until just two remained. Here is the full elimination ladder for the top 8 cars:

Note: Steve Whittaker qualified well in his Toyota Supra, but this car was broken for the first round, so switched to his spare car for the eliminations.
Round 2
God185 - Leon Green - Toyota Supra - 10.860@136.86 Defeated
God126 - Adrian Smith - Toyota Corolla GT4 - 15.688@70.18

Finals
God185 - Leon Green - Toyota Supra - 10.023@144.61 Defeated
God194 - Nick Evans - Nissan Skyline R32 -12.627@110.61
The finals were very tense for drivers and spectators alike, and Nick knew that he would have to use lightning-fast reactions to beat Leon who had the slightly quicker car. However, in the heat of the moment, Leon kept his cool, and left Nick for dead, clocking his best time ever. so close to that magic 9!
The Run What Ya Brung was also highly competitive, with over 300 cars competing for just four trophies! The times were close and the lead changed several times throughout the day, but in the end, the following drivers came through victorious:

As the sun set on Santa Pod, everyone was in agreement that this was the best Rumble ever, with more to see and do than anyone thought possible in one day! A massive thanks goes to Redline Magazine for their help on the day and input and support beforehand, and not to mention a huge thanks to all the clubs and individuals also in attendance. We hope you had a great day.
